  • 06 February 2005: Jeep’s Hurricane concept must be the most maneuverable and powerful 4x4 ever built. Equipped with two 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engines: one in the front and one in the back, there was a total of 670 horsepower and 740 lb-ft of torque available on demand. Two modes of automated four-wheel steering were used, first, the traditional with rear tires turning in the opposite direction of the front. A second mode turned all four-wheels in the same direction for nimble crab-like steering. With 14.3 inches of ground clearance, and 37-inch tall tires, there wasn’t much that the Hurricane couldn’t climb. The black one-piece structural carbon fiber body also formed the chassis, plus suspension and power train were mounted directly to the body. Chrysler Group Multi-Displacement System (MDS) enabled the Hurricane to alternate between 4-, 8-, 12- or 16-cylinders and clock 0-60 mph in less than five-seconds.<br />

  • 11 February 2009: MERCEDES-BENZ BLUEZERO E-CELL: Mercedes-Benz is showing the way ahead in environmentally responsible electromobility by presenting its near-series Concept BlueZERO at the Chicago Auto Show. The cabin has room for five, since the energy accumulators/generators are integrated into the spacious sandwich floor. Also, the powertrain technology built into the sandwich floor ensures a low center of gravity and, consequently, extremely reliable and agile handling. The battery can be charged overnight at home or at a charging station. There, an additional fast-charging connection is available that reduces the charging time of the battery to under 3 hours. Top speed of 95 mph is electronically governed, and the car can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 10.8 seconds.. The Chicago Auto Show is a charity event of the Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA) and is held annually at McCormick Place in Chicago Illinois.

  • 11 February 2009: SAAB 9-X CONVERTIBLE CONCEPT: The 9-X Convertible Concept is an innovative design study exploring what a future open-air Saab could look like. Unlike any other convertible, this prototype has the revolutionary Canopy Top, where only the upper part of the roof is canvas covered. A totally new take on open air driving. Biofueled, turbocharged and electronically powered Ð the front-wheel drive Saab 9-X prototype is more responsible via its optimized Verified Sustainable E85 bioethanol fuel. Pairing the right-sized BioPower engine with an electric hybrid drive system, which includes regenerative braking, further reduces consumption. The 200 h.p. transversely-mounted engine is mated to six-speed manual gearbox..
